Young Women Dominate Kazakhstan's Youth Entrepreneurship Scene
Young females excel in entrepreneurial ventures in Kazakhstan's youth demographic.
Found in the heart of Central Asia, Kazakhstan's entrepreneurial landscape has witnessed a remarkable shift with women taking the lead. According to the Institute of Public Policy, women account for an impressive 55.4% of all entrepreneurs below the age of 35, backed by data from the Bureau of National Statistics.
Urban areas demonstrate a striking disparity, with women representing a whopping 55.5% of young entrepreneurs compared to 44.5% for men. The trend persists in rural areas, where women proudly claim 54.5% of the entrepreneurial pie.
The surge in individual entrepreneurship has been on the rise, with numbers skyrocketing by 60.4% since 2020. The youth demographic claims a significant 40% of these entrepreneurs.
A timeline reveals that from the first quarter of 2020 to the same period in 2025, the number of young individual entrepreneurs multiplied 2.4 times, growing from 293,590 to an impressive 698,920. The year 2022 saw a spectacular 68% increase in youth entrepreneurship.
The urbanization trend is evident as three-quarters of young entrepreneurs find their roots in cities. However, only 4.7% operate within the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors, a stark contrast to the 14.2% of entrepreneurs across all age groups active in these sectors.
The top three flourishing industries in youth entrepreneurship include the trade and repair of motor vehicles, provision of various services, and transportation and warehousing.
