Weekly Highlight: Newborn Infants in Focus

In the heart of Neuss, the Alhejazi family is filled with joy as they welcome their first child, Ibrahim, into the world. The proud parents, Hiba and Omer, live in Neuss-Weckhoven and have been eagerly awaiting this special moment [1].

The delivery took place at the Johanna Etienne Hospital in Neusser Furth, a choice made by the family for its proximity and the excellent care it provides [2]. Weighing in at a healthy 3,720 grams and measuring 52 centimeters long, Ibrahim entered the world on a memorable day [1].

Meanwhile, at the Lukaskrankenhaus in Neuss, the hospital celebrated its 1000th birth of the year with Ibrahim's birth. This milestone came slightly earlier than last year, with the 1000th birth in 2023 occurring on July 26 [1].

The Lukaskrankenhaus, known for its attached children's clinic, has been a popular choice for many families in the area. In the past, it has recorded twin, triplet, and even quadruplet births [1]. In 2024, the hospital recorded a total of 1,812 births, a figure that remained relatively stable compared to previous years, showing a slight decrease of 20 births or about 1.1% less than before [1].

Among the families celebrating at the Lukaskrankenhaus are Nina and Fabian Hermes, who welcomed their first child, Jakob, earlier this year. As newlyweds, the couple returned from their honeymoon in Mexico in May and are now settling back into their home [1]. Jakob was born at the Johanna Etienne Hospital, weighing a robust 3,410 grams [1].

Nina, who works as an educator in Neuss, will be taking parental leave, while Fabian is set to switch from the military to the police in September and start his training there [1]. In their spare time, the couple enjoys shooting and dancing with the city and prince's guard in Neuss [1].

The Alhejazi and Hermes families join the many families in Neuss who have recently welcomed new additions. As the city continues to grow, so does the joy and excitement that comes with each new birth.

The proud parents, the Hermes family, are already adjusting to their new life, with Nina taking parental leave and Fabian preparing to join the police force.
