Tulsa Health Department Expands COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts in Underserved North Tulsa Communities

Tulsa Health Department (THD) has expanded its COVID-19 vaccination efforts, securing additional doses and partnering with community organizations to reach underserved populations. Starting March 8, 1,000 weekly appointments will be available at a new clinic, in addition to existing Expo clinic appointments.

THD has secured extra vaccine allotments from the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) specifically for this initiative. To ensure equitable access, THD is collaborating with the Oklahoma Caring Foundation to administer vaccines in LatinX and Burmese communities using the Caring Van mobile unit.

A vaccination clinic has been established at the THD North Regional Health and Wellness Center, located within six miles of all targeted zip codes. THD is working with faith-based and community organizations to register eligible individuals in five North Tulsa zip codes (74126, 74106, 74127, 74110, and 74130) for COVID-19 vaccine appointments. These appointments will be scheduled through community organizations, not the OSDH portal.

With increased vaccine allocations, more doses are now available for use at Caring Van locations. THD's partnership with community organizations and mobile vaccination efforts aim to improve access to the COVID-19 vaccine for underserved populations in North Tulsa.
