Stabbing incident in Hamburg: 39-year-old woman previously recognized as target - Stabbing in Hamburg: 39-year-old female suspect apprehended multiple times
A 39-year-old woman, who has previously been known to local authorities, is now under suspicion for a knife attack at Hamburg's main station last Friday that left several people critically injured.
Back in February, she was accused of exhibiting violent behavior towards a child on a playground near the airport. As a result, a doctor ordered her commitment to a psychiatric institution.
Earlier this year, an incident transpired within the mental health facility where the woman served as a patient. A fellow patient reported an instance where the 39-year-old allegedly kicked her in the thigh.
A day before the train station incident, the suspect was spotted at the airport with visible injuries on her face. The paramedic reported the observation to the authorities.
On the day she was supposed to travel to Paris, she informed the police that a nurse had injured her during a clinic stay and that she did not wish to press charges. She was released due to her purported departure, but there was no confirmation that she boarded the flight. The Lower Saxony Ministry of Health stated that she was discharged from the psychiatric facility on that day.
Upon her second visit to the airport, she expressed her intention to travel to Paris, but was unable to provide adequate identification, preventing her from boarding the flight. There have also been previously reported traffic incidents dating back to June 2023 and March 2024, in which the woman was allegedly involved as a cyclist or pedestrian, although no relation to criminal activity was found.
According to recent reports, the suspect has been arrested and is currently receiving treatment for her psychological condition. Initial investigations reveal no signs of a politically motivated attack.
