Nurturing individuals who played significant roles in a revolution is a heartfelt mandate: Party Head

Showing compassion for individuals who have played significant roles in a revolution is an order straight from the heart, according to the party leader.

In a heartfelt visit to the Thuận Thành Wounded Veteran Nursing Centre in Bắc Ninh Province on July 15, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm expressed his deepest respect and encouragement for the severely wounded war veterans undergoing treatment at the centre.

Established in 1965, the centre has been a historic "red address" for Vietnam's national heroes, providing long-term care, rehabilitation, and medical treatment for veterans with disabilities of 81% or more. Over the past six decades, it has cared for thousands of war veterans who fought during the resistance wars against French colonialists and US imperialists, as well as those who had participated in border protection missions and international duties in Laos and Cambodia.

As of July 2025, the centre is caring for 84 seriously wounded war veterans from 13 provinces and cities. These veterans have injuries ranging from spinal damage causing paralysis to amputations and head trauma, many of whom rely on wheelchairs for mobility. The patients include members of ethnic minority groups such as Tày, Nùng, and Pà Cò.

General Secretary Tô Lâm praised the tireless dedication and sense of responsibility of the centre's staff, doctors, and nurses, and acknowledged the selfless devotion of the spouses and family members of the veterans who have stayed with them at the centre. He also expressed his hope that wounded and sick soldiers will live joyful and healthy lives, serving as shining examples for younger generations.

The leader reaffirmed the Party and State's view that those who have rendered service to the revolution are treasured national assets. In recent years, the Party and Government have introduced measures to improve the lives of those with meritorious service, with the aim of providing comprehensive, sustainable support, enhancing both the material and spiritual wellbeing of war veterans and national contributors.

General Secretary Tô Lâm presented gifts to the wounded and sick soldiers undergoing treatment at the centre, to five families of martyrs, and to the staff of the centre. He emphasized that caring for those who have rendered service to the nation is a moral and political duty.
