Samsung Galaxy Ring Battery Swelling Causes Distressing Incident
A Samsung Galaxy Ring smart device caused an alarming incident recently. Daniel Rotar, a tech blogger, found himself in a distressing situation when the battery in his Samsung Galaxy Ring swelled, pinching his finger tightly. The incident occurred just as he was about to board a plane, forcing him to seek immediate medical attention and cancel his trip.
Rotar, who runs the tech blog Zone of Tech, shared his experience on social media. He tried to remove the device using water and soap but was unsuccessful. The swollen battery inside the ring caused the titanium body to exert strong pressure on his finger, making it impossible to slip off. Doctors at the emergency room had to use ice and a special lubricant to carefully remove the device. The inner part of the ring was found to be deformed, and some plastic components were partially detached from the body.
This is not an isolated incident. Previous users have reported similar issues with Samsung's smart rings on platforms like Reddit. The common factor appears to be battery swelling, which can cause the device to malfunction and pose safety risks.
Following this incident, Daniel Rotar has decided to discontinue using the Samsung Galaxy Ring due to safety concerns. The cause of the battery swelling is still under investigation. Samsung has not yet commented on the matter. Users are advised to be cautious when using such devices and to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for safe usage and storage.
