'Rowing for Cancer Cure': Offenbach Charity Regatta Unites Sport and Camaraderie in Cancer Fight

On Sunday, October 6, 2024, the 10th Offenbach Benefit Regatta 'Rowing Against Cancer' will take place, with 240 rowers participating in this inspiring event. The race course, approximately 300 meters long, will be located in front of the boathouse of the Wassersportverein 1926 e.V. Offenbach a.M. - Bürgel, on the Main River.

The Wassersportverein 1926 e.V. Offenbach has been preparing the teams for the event for months, and many sponsors from all over Germany are supporting this worthy cause. One of the main sponsors, contributing a four-figure amount to all locations, is the Furstlich Castellsche Bank. This significant sponsorship makes the event an important driving force in the fight against cancer.

The main sponsor of the 10th Offenbach Benefit Rowing Regatta 'Against Cancer' in 2024 is Commerzbank, which supported the event with 10,000 euros.

Cancer patients are participating in the races, and the proceeds from the regatta will be invested in the sports therapeutic care of cancer patients in cooperation with the Sana Clinic Offenbach. Dr. Thomas Bellut, chairman of the Life with Cancer Foundation, stated that the event raises funds for their work and mobilizes communal experience and solidarity.

Manuela Damm, sports chairwoman of the WSV, emphasized the motivation of the club members to support the event. She expressed pride in the club's role in organising the event, which has grown in popularity over the past decade.

The race categories are 'Newcomer' and 'Experts', with a new elimination system in place. A total of 60 four-person teams will compete, making for an exciting day of racing.

The event will be organised by the Life with Cancer Foundation, who have been instrumental in bringing together the rowing community and cancer patients to make a difference in the fight against the disease. The foundation's work is crucial in providing support and care to those affected by cancer, and the Offenbach Benefit Regatta is a significant contribution to their efforts.

As the race day approaches, the Wassersportverein 1926 e.V. Offenbach and the Life with Cancer Foundation are looking forward to another successful event, with the support of their sponsors and the community coming together to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
