In the village of Kasyl, located in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, an unexpected act of compassion unfolded on an ordinary day. On this particular day, the Major of Police, Bakyt Zharkynbekov, celebrated his 35th birthday. However, the day took an unexpected turn when he encountered a distressed schoolboy contemplating suicide.

The incident occurred near an unspecified bridge within the city. The teenager, whose name is Bakha, was in a state of distress on his birthday. He had reached a railing on the bridge, hinting at a plan to take his own life.

Officer Zharkynbekov, who was present at the scene, approached the teenager with empathy and care. He offered assistance, attempting to establish a dialogue and calm the young person down. Through his understanding and support, he was able to prevent the teenager from harming himself, providing not only immediate safety but also hope and understanding on what was a very difficult day for the young individual.

The police officer's quick thinking and compassionate approach were recognised as a positive example of police officers playing a vital role in community welfare beyond traditional law enforcement duties. After the incident, the schoolboy received psychological help and is now with his parents, receiving the care and support he needs.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding in times of crisis, and the role that individuals, including police officers, can play in making a difference in people's lives.

The police officer, Bakyt Zharkynbekov, demonstrated his commitment to health-and-wellness and mental-health on his 35th birthday, when he intervened in a critical situation involving a distressed schoolboy. His application of science-based therapies-and-treatments, through empathy and care, prevented the teenager from taking his own life and provided hope and understanding.
