Sat.1, a popular German television network, has announced that the weight loss show 'The Biggest Loser' will not be returning to its schedule in 2026. The broadcaster has confirmed that the 2026 season has been cancelled, and there are currently no plans for a new season.

The show, which debuted on German television in 2009, has seen several changes in hosts over the years. Initially, former figure skater Katarina Witt hosted the show, but in 2013, it moved to Sat.1's sister channel ProSieben. In the fourth season, Christine Theiss took over as the moderator, a role she has held ever since. Ramin Abtin joined Christine as a co-host in 2024.

Before moving to Sat.1, the show was hosted by different people on different channels. In seasons two and three, former boxer Regina Halmich took over as host. In 2022, the name of the show was changed to 'Leben leicht gemacht - The Biggest Loser', but it has been called 'The Biggest Loser' again since 2025.

The decision not to air 'The Biggest Loser' next year was announced by Sat.1 to the industry service 'DWDL' on Friday. While the continuation of the show is not ruled out, the broadcaster's priorities currently lie elsewhere. There are no immediate plans for a new season of 'The Biggest Loser' in 2026.

Despite the hiatus, fans of the show can still enjoy past seasons on Sat.1. The network has not announced any plans to remove the show from its library. For now, viewers will have to wait and see if 'The Biggest Loser' will return to German television in the future.
