Mountain Rescue Chronicles - Tainted Heritage

In the picturesque town of Ramsau, preparations for a major ski event are underway, but a looming environmental disaster is casting a shadow over the festivities. The crisis stems from a series of events involving Thomas Brandtner, a local farmer, and his ex-wife Silke.

Years ago, Thomas hid barrels of rat poison in a cave near a glacier, a fact that has only recently come to light. As the ski event nears, Thomas and Silke, with a sense of urgency, have been attempting to remove the barrels without anyone noticing. However, their mission took a turn for the worse when, while transporting a barrel down the valley on a snowmobile, Thomas fell, causing the barrel to end up in a stream.

The contamination of the snow for the ski event could be a disaster for the community. Not only does it pose a threat to the safety of the participants, but it could also tarnish the town's reputation, particularly for Laura Brandtner, an organic farmer who stands to lose her organic seal if the contamination spreads.

In a twist of events, Silke, who initially refused to help Thomas, has reluctantly agreed to use her key to a snow groomer to aid in the retrieval of the barrels. Meanwhile, Tobi, a key figure in the community, is left confused as Markus, the head of the mountain rescue team, is expected to return from an expedition soon.

The district office has contacted Laura Brandtner about the potential poisoning of her fishpond, adding another layer of concern to the situation. In response, Elisa Röddel, the tourism manager in Ramsau, has given an ultimatum: the snow cannons will go back into operation if there's no clear statement about the contamination by the next day at 10:00 AM.

The episode, the fifth in the Mountain Watch series, is directed by Ralph Polinski. The cast includes Sebastian Strobel as Markus Kofler, Luise Bähr as Katharina Strasser, Markus Brandl as Tobias Herbrechter, Michael Pascher as Rudi, Robert Lohr as Michael Dörfler, Stefanie von Poser as Emilie Hofer, Josephin Busch as Nina, Mike Hoffmann as Jens Schwarz, Martin Leutgeb as Gert Holzer.

As the clock ticks, the community of Ramsau grapples with the potential environmental disaster caused by the melting ice and contamination of a nearby stream. The barrels, once hidden, are now at the centre of a crisis that threatens to derail the ski event and disrupt the lives of many.
