Kuwait's First Mental Health Forum Aims to Empower Families
The 'First Forum and Exhibition on Mental Health', organized by the 'Awareness and Guidance Center' of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood in Kuwait, aimed to raise awareness and promote progress in mental health. The event, themed 'Point of Contact... Reading into Children's Behavior', was opened by Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, the Minister, coinciding with World Mental Health Day.
Dr. Al-Huwailah considers mental health care for families and children an investment in Kuwait's future, driving creativity and giving. He appreciates the contributions of the Awareness and Guidance Center team and the forum's partners in advancing social and family welfare in Kuwait.
The forum aimed to equip parents with communication skills and behavioral understanding tools to engage positively with their children through active listening and constructive dialogue. The Ministry seeks to strengthen the family-based mental health system through awareness and counseling programs, in cooperation with schools and specialized centers.
The 'First Forum and Exhibition on Mental Health' highlighted the importance of mental health as a fundamental human right. It brought together various stakeholders, including state bodies, NGOs, health providers, academic institutions, and international organizations, to foster progress in mental health awareness and care in Kuwait.
