Baden-Württemberg: More Sick Days Due to Respiratory Troubles
www.dak.de/bgm
- DAK Health examines absences of 244,000 employees between January and March 2025
- Sickness rate drops slightly to 5.0%
- Respiratory problems led the illness pattern, accounting for 141.2 sick days per 100 employees.
"Even at the top of the national ranking, Baden-Württemberg is still facing significant levels of absence due to respiratory troubles," says states manager Siegfried Euerle of DAK Health. "Given the current economic challenges in Germany, reducing employee absenteeism is essential."
Men and Women Affected
Approximately 36% of men and 39% of women took sick leave at least once in the first quarter. Respiratory problems were the leading reason for the sickness rate, followed by mental illnesses such as depression, and musculoskeletal issues such as back pain. Unlike most other illness groups, all witnessed slight decreases compared to the previous year.
Baden-WÜrttemberg: Lowest Sickness Rate Nationwide
Baden-Württemberg boasted a sickness rate of 5.0%, down slightly from the previous year's rate of 5.2%. This means that, on average, 50 out of 1,000 employees were absent each day from January to March. According to Euerle, "With the lowest sickness rate nationwide, Baden-Württemberg remains at a very good level. This positive trend continued in the first quarter of 2025, emphasizing the significance of effective occupational health management."
