Healthcare provider Finger Lakes Health to merge with UR Medicine

In a strategic move aimed at enhancing healthcare services for the residents of the Finger Lakes region, UR Medicine and Finger Lakes Health have announced a collaborative affiliation. This partnership is set to provide numerous benefits for patients, both now and in the future.

Under this affiliation, UR Medicine and Finger Lakes Health will collaborate on performing surgeries at Geneva General Hospital and Finger Lakes Surgery Center. This collaboration will expand access to care, particularly for families in the Finger Lakes region, by providing access to highly specialized services in Rochester.

The affiliation also seeks to build operational efficiencies through group purchasing. Additionally, both organizations aim to implement a common electronic medical record system, providing patients a seamless care experience.

Finger Lakes Health will join UR Medicine on August 1. Dr. Mark Taubman, MD, CEO of UR Medicine, expressed a commitment to providing high-quality care close to home for families across upstate New York. He has worked closely with Dr. Acevedo, the leadership team at Finger Lakes Health, to ensure continued access to high-quality medical care in the region.

The University President, Sarah Mangelsdorf, is proud of Finger Lakes Health joining the University of Rochester community. As part of this affiliation, UR Medicine intends to aid in recruiting physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants for Finger Lakes Health.

The affiliation will be under a management services agreement that has been in place since 2020. Both organizations share a commitment to maintaining and expanding access to high-quality health services in the communities of eastern Ontario, Seneca, Yates, and Wayne counties.

While specific details about the affiliation plan are not yet available, UR Medicine and other healthcare providers in the region are involved in various initiatives to improve healthcare services. These include UR Medicine's strategic plan to expand access to care and enhance healthcare services, regional healthcare excellence recognition, and community and innovation projects.

For more details about the affiliation plan between Finger Lakes Health and UR Medicine, direct inquiries to these organizations would be necessary. This collaboration is expected to have a significant impact on the healthcare landscape in the Finger Lakes region, providing residents with improved access to quality care.
