Harm in Every Laundry: The Irritating Reality of a Well-Known Powder - Latest Russian Rating Reveals Concerns

May 29, 2023: Attention Laundry Product Users

Researchers from Roskachestvo have completed an extensive study on 20 popular laundry detergent brands, assessing their quality, safety, and compliance with labeling claims. The brands under scrutiny included domestic and international ones: Index, Persil, Aist, Bimax, Synergetic, Ariel, Dosia, Pemos, Peros, Losk, Chayka, Samokat, Every Day, ABC, Mara, Sorti, Mif, Biolan, Tide (Russia) and Tide (China).

Safety and Health Concerns

In general, the majority of detergent samples passed the safety tests. Users are encouraged to adhere strictly to the guidelines provided on the packaging to minimize any potential health risks. Notably, Tide (China) was found to be unsafe for children's clothing. The product, as per packaging, is suitable for washing children's clothes, but experts detected that this detergent can cause eye irritation when used for this purpose.

Allergies and Skin Irritation

No laundry detergent on the list caused skin irritation, allergies, intoxication, or metabolism disorders during standard washing cycles. Users should follow the instructions to avoid any harm, including no hand or eye damage.

Stain Removal Efficiency

For stain removal, Persil, Aist, Index, and Bimax demonstrated outstanding results with blood stains. Interestingly, all detergents worked better on protein stains than oil-based ones, with Index being the only brand fully meeting Roskachestvo's standards for oil stain removal.

Effect on Fabric and Machines

Differences were observed in the impact of detergents on fabric colors. Some brands may cause yellowing, while others result in a "blueing" effect, though no discoloration of colored fabrics was reported after 15 washes at 40°C. Notably, excessive foam production was observed in Tide (China), Peros, Bimax, Mif, and Losk, which could potentially harm washing machines.

Five brands – ABC, Mara, Sorti, Biolan, Samokat, Kachai Den', and Tide (China) – failed the "limescale deposits on heating elements" test. Such detergent can accelerate wear and costly repairs to washing machines.

In summary, the study conducted by Roskachestvo provided valuable insights into the laundry detergent market, highlighting the importance of adhering to the guidelines and verifying claims on packaging. Users should check official Roskachestvo reports or press releases for the most accurate and current information on specific detergent safety, especially concerning children's clothing.

  1. The health-and-wellness sector, particularly the skin-care industry, should consider the findings in the Roskachestvo report, as Tide (China) was identified as unsafe for children's clothing due to potential eye irritation.
  2. As the study on laundry detergents by Roskachestvo found no laundry detergent causing skin irritation or allergies, it's essential that nutrition and health-and-wellness companies continue supporting research into non-irritating cleaning products.
  3. Finance and the science industry could collaborate to evaluate the impact of investments in the laundry industry, considering the findings from Roskachestvo's study which showed some detergents potentially harming washing machines with excessive foam production and accelerating wear and repairs.
