In a heartfelt tribute to his late brother, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai's Crown Prince, has announced the construction of the first Rashid Village in Dubai. The initiative, which is part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), aims to carry forward the profound humanitarian legacy of Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed, who passed away 10 years ago.

The village, spread over an area of 7.2 hectares, will be built in Kenya. It is designed to provide underprivileged families with access to housing, education, health care, and social services. The village will include fully furnished homes, a school for 320 pupils, digital learning facilities, a health centre, a large mosque, a multipurpose hall, a football pitch, and a sports academy.

Comprehensive infrastructure such as fire alarm systems, surveillance cameras, and a solar-powered lighting network will ensure the safety and comfort of the residents. To stimulate economic activity and provide sustainable income sources, endowment-based commercial outlets will also be constructed.

Sheikh Hamdan, who has continued to celebrate his brother's life in the years since his death, described Sheikh Rashid as a best friend and a childhood companion. He believes that his brother's impact will remain alive through Dubai's humanitarian projects and initiatives.

The Rashid Villages project is a tribute to Sheikh Rashid's humanitarian legacy and is intended to ensure that his impact endures both in Dubai and beyond. Sheikh Hamdan launched the global humanitarian project, Rashid Villages, with the aim of providing underprivileged families with access to housing, education, health care, and social services.

The first Rashid Village is expected to benefit about 1,700 people. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed announced the construction of the village in honour of his brother, who died of a heart attack at the age of 33 on September 19, 2015. The philanthropic plan is to build a model village every year, expanding its humanitarian impact.

Sheikh Hamdan's remarks about Rashid Villages were shared by Dubai Media Office on Friday. The construction of the first Rashid Village marks a significant step towards realizing the vision of a more compassionate and inclusive world.
