Greifswald's Drinking Water Declared Safe After Bacteria Removal

Residents of Greifswald, excluding Riems island, can breathe a sigh of relief as the city's drinking water is now safe to use without restrictions. Recent inspections at the waterworks found no defects or bacteria, ending a period of uncertainty.

The issue began when a routine control detected slight enterococci contamination in the drinking water. This led the Gesundheitsamt (Health Department) of the Landkreis Vorpommern-Greifswald to issue a boil order as a precautionary measure. However, the official search results do not reveal the name of the person responsible for removing the Enterococci cluster at the waterworks. Despite this, the health department has lifted the boiling order, ensuring the safety of Greifswald's water supply.

The city of Greifswald, excluding Riems island, is now clear of any water contamination. Residents can use their tap water without any restrictions, thanks to the successful removal of the Enterococci cluster at the waterworks.
