In a recent development, French President Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for COVID-19, as confirmed by Almaty.tv, citing euronews.com. Following this confirmation, several European leaders have been advised to isolate after having contact with Macron during the EU summit on December 10-11.

President Macron began exhibiting characteristic symptoms and was subsequently tested, leading to the positive result. As a result, he will spend the next seven days in self-isolation, performing his duties from home and participating in government meetings via video link.

Notably, French Prime Minister Jean Castex and National Assembly President Richard Ferrand, who have had contact with Macron, will also undergo a seven-day isolation period. They, however, are not showing symptoms at this time.

The Irish Prime Minister, Micheál Martin, has also announced contact restrictions. In addition, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, Luxembourg's Xavier Bettel, Spain's Pedro Sánchez, Portugal's António Costa, and European Council President Charles Michel have decided to isolate after contact with President Macron.

In contrast, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, despite contact with Macron, have tested negative and will not isolate. All individuals who have been in contact with President Macron recently have been identified, informed, and advised to isolate and follow the usual medical recommendations for such situations.

These leaders will work remotely until Christmas Eve, ensuring the continuity of their duties during this period of isolation. While the search results do not contain any information regarding foreign leaders being in isolation after having contact with Macron at the EU summit, the situation is being closely monitored for any further updates.
