Pop star Natalia Podolskaya sat down with journalist Margarita Simonyan, delving into her family's heartrending story. Simonyan's husband, director Tigran Keosayan, has been fighting for his life since late December 2024 due to a severe heart condition[1]. The main editor of RT bared her soul about navigating this hardship, her children's resilience, and their approach to child-rearing.

Living with the Tragedy

The conversation started by addressing how Simonyan is dealing with the crisis. She admitted to initially feeling overwhelmed, spending a month in the hospital with Keosayan alongside their children's struggles, missing their daily presence.

"At first, I thought I wouldn't make it. But taking care of the kids brought me back to life," Simonyan shared. She extended her gratitude to everyone sending prayers and good thoughts, expressing her belief in the power of collective prayers. She urged her supporters not to forget about Keosayan, assuring them that they're all counting on his recovery[1].

When questioned about convincing her mother-in-law to move in with them, Simonyan revealed that it wasn't a recent decision, but rather a choice made when her relationship with Keosayan began[1].

"My mother-in-law has lived with us since the very start. We chose a house together because it was comforting for him to have family around, especially when he moved in first. I couldn't resist the thought of her being alone and potentially getting hurt," Simonyan explained.

Simonyan confessed to supporting her mother-in-law emotionally amid her deep concern for her son. To push through her own sorrow, Simonyan emphasized the importance of upholding family and loved ones, stating, "I live for all of us, and you live for me."

Raising Children with Responsibility

Discussing her approach to imparting responsibility in her children, Simonyan shared an example involving her daughter's food allergies:

"When someone offers her something that could potentially trigger an allergic reaction, I encourage her to choose wisely. We've gone through these situations before, so she understands the implications," Simonyan said.

When it comes to her son's curiosity, Simonyan addresses his questions with honesty and openness, helping him cope with the awkwardness. She shared, "He stumbled upon swear words, felt guilty and was torturing himself. I had to reassure him that it's normal to be curious and told him not to be as hard on himself."

In the Pursuit of Hope

Simonyan has remained optimistic about Keosayan's recovery, focusing on their journey as a family. She praised Keosayan's playful personality as a father, modeling a loving relationship with his children.

"Tigran is a fun dad, the one who sneaks in inappropriate songs in the mornings when mom is asleep. The kids find it exciting, but know better than to play these tunes when mom is around," Simonyan revealed.
