Exploring Health and Revitalization through Tourism in Thailand, Year 2025

On September 17, 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuwait hosted an event titled 'Rediscovering Health and Wellness Tourism in Thailand.' The gathering brought together representatives of leading hospitals from both countries, aiming to strengthen cooperation in healthcare and wellness tourism.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Uraiwan Courtaud, Chargée d'affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuwait, emphasised the shared value of this cooperation. The event underscored Kuwait's commitment to broadening cooperation to improve healthcare for its citizens.

Over 62 hospitals in Thailand are accredited by the Joint Commission International, positioning the country among top destinations for healthcare services globally. Delegates from eight of Thailand's leading private hospitals, including Piyavate Hospital, World Medical Hospital, and Phyathai Hospital, were present. Senior executives from various healthcare institutions in Kuwait also attended the event.

The Business Showcase session enabled representatives from both Thailand and Kuwait to share their visions and outline potential avenues for collaboration. During this session, the importance of Thailand's position as a trusted destination for world-class healthcare and wellness services was reaffirmed.

The Business Matching session, which followed, allowed representatives from both countries to engage in direct discussions on areas such as patient referral systems, medical personnel exchanges, and joint training initiatives. Thailand aims to strengthen bonds with Kuwait to establish a more streamlined referral system for Kuwaiti patients.

Thailand and Kuwait are seeking to promote medical personnel exchanges and joint training to enhance professional development. This cooperation aims to support Kuwait's 2035 vision, which seeks to transform Kuwait where the private sector leads the economy.

The Networking Reception provided participants with a platform to further strengthen professional ties and foster long-term partnerships. Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Rasheed, a representative of the Ministry of Health in Kuwait, attended the event, underscoring Kuwait's commitment to the collaboration.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand welcomed over 3.5 million international patients annually. The event marked an important step toward further strengthening the long-standing friendship between Thailand and Kuwait, with the goal of ensuring seamless access for Kuwaiti patients to world-class care in Thailand.

The closing speech at the event was delivered by the Thai Ambassador to Kuwait. The event highlighted potential avenues for long-term and robust cooperation between Thailand and Kuwait in healthcare and wellness tourism. The cooperation is expected to contribute positively to both countries' healthcare sectors and promote mutual growth and development.
