Expands consultancy services and secures funding for Donum vitae
Donum Vitae, a counseling center based in Bergisch Gladbach, has announced the launch of a fundraising campaign from September 12 to December 12, 2025. The campaign, titled "More Women's Power for Women and Families in Need," aims to provide short-term financial assistance and additional psychosocial offers to women in need.
The center, which offers advice on pregnancy, birth, sexuality, family planning, and starting a family, has seen a significant increase in demand for its services. With over 1,000 consultations per year since 2022, about 35% of first consultations are related to pregnancy conflicts.
To expand their counseling capacities and support women in difficult situations, Donum Vitae is seeking donations. All consultations at the center are free of charge, and it is funded from public funds of the state of NRW and the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, as well as through donations.
The Bethe Foundation, established in 1996 by Roswitha and Erich Bethe with a capital of 1.5 million euros, is supporting Donum Vitae's fundraising campaign. Donations will be doubled up to a total of 5,000 euros during the campaign period. Today, the Bethe Foundation has a foundation capital of over 10 million euros and has distributed around 30 million euros to date.
In addition to supporting Donum Vitae, the Bethe Foundation also engages with various projects. These include the establishment of children's hospices, facilities that protect children and young people from violence and abuse, engaging with Jewish history, promoting refugee projects, and supporting integration.
The Rena Schilling Foundation, which multiplies the donations from Donum Vitae's fundraising campaigns, is also involved in the campaign. Several events are planned as part of the fundraising campaign, including a book reading, film screening, spinning marathon, tombola at a Christmas market, and a Glühwein event with live music.
Donum Vitae is a counseling center for women, men, couples, and families with children under three years of age. It is run by a purely voluntary board, including Gabriele Atug-Schmitz, Rita Böller, Svenja Hoffmann, Nicole Pahl, and Dr. Barbara Voll-Peters (Chairwoman). The center is located at Hauptstr. 126, 51465 Bergisch Gladbach, and can be reached at 02202/10 86 50 or via email at [email protected]. Donations can be made to the donation account with IBAN DE 73 3706 2600 3626 6574 18. For more information, visit www.donumvitae-rbk.de.
The Lions Club "Bergische Löwen" has already supported Donum Vitae in establishing an "emergency fund" for women in difficult situations. The Bethe Foundation has also approved a sum of up to 500,000 euros for the planned Jewish Museum in Cologne.
The demand for advice on topics like pregnancy, contraception, dealing with miscarriages, or findings from prenatal diagnostics is increasing. Through this fundraising campaign, Donum Vitae hopes to continue providing essential support and counseling services to those in need.
