Dave Edmunds in Critical Condition After Major Cardiac Arrest

Dave Edmunds, the Welsh rock singer known for his hits in the '70s and '80s, is currently battling a severe health crisis. On July 30, 2025, it was confirmed that Edmunds, aged 81, suffered a major cardiac arrest at his home.

Following the incident, Edmunds was revived by CPR and was rushed to a hospital, where he was intubated in an ICU operating room. However, the rock legend is now facing a challenging road to recovery, with brain damage and severe memory loss[1][2][3].

Cici Edmunds, Dave's wife, shared the news of her husband's health condition in a July 29 Facebook post. She revealed that Dave had heart issues for many years and had retired from performing in 2017. Despite the dire situation, she expressed hope and asked for "many [people's] prayers and good wishes"[1][4].

Dave Edmunds, the leader of Rockpile, which featured Nick Lowe and released the album "Seconds of Pleasure" in 1980, is no longer alive[5]. The album, which features songs like "When I Write the Book" and "Teacher Teacher", marked a significant milestone in his career. Edmunds was also a member of the blues-rock group Love Sculpture.

One of his most popular songs, "Slipping Away" from 1983, was written by ELO's Jeff Lynne. Edmunds is also known for his solo work, including hits like "I Hear You Knocking", "Girls Talk", and "I Knew the Bride".

Unfortunately, doctors have warned that the risk of another cardiac arrest for Edmunds is high, and if it occurs, there is no chance of survival[1][2][3]. Cici added that this period would be a "very long journey" to recovery, with an uncertain prognosis.

The music community and fans are rallying together to support Edmunds during this difficult time. We hope for a speedy recovery and send our thoughts and prayers to Dave and his family.
