Dementia Action Week labeled as "Lila Sofa" focuses on raising awareness about dementia
The Social Services department of Meerbusch's city administration is organising a Dementia Action Week from September 23rd to 26th. This event, named the "Purple Sofa Action Week", is centred around a distinctive "Purple Sofa" that provides a space for discussions about dementia.
Approximately 1.8 million people in Germany are currently living with dementia, according to current estimates. The German Alzheimer's Association predicts that this number will continue to rise. The "Purple Sofa" during the action week offers a platform for experts, those affected, and caregivers to meet and exchange ideas during specific times throughout the week.
On Tuesday, September 23rd, a "Market of Possibilities" will be held at the city library. This market will feature information stands from various actors and services. TSV Meerbusch invites people to dance at 3 pm on the 23rd, followed by Tanzhaus NRW at 5 pm.
The week concludes with a special event. On Friday, September 26th, at 6 pm, author Lotti Beitz will read from her book "I Want a Pomegranate". This heartfelt book is written by Gina Mayer. Registration is required for the reading due to limited seating, and can be done by contacting 02159/916 556.
Join the "Purple Sofa Action Week" in Meerbusch, Germany, and contribute to the vital conversations about dementia. Let's work together to support those affected and raise awareness about this important issue.
