The recently opened Psychiatric Day Clinic in Eichstätt is set to address a significant gap in the mental health care supply for nearly 100,000 residents in the district's western and central regions. The new clinic is a part of the Ingolstadt Clinic’s expansion plan and is expected to offer modern outpatient care for individuals with various mental health issues.
Located strategically at the intersection of Hindenburgstraße and Grabmannstraße, the multi-story building boasts a light-flooded interior spanning 1,100 square meters across four levels. The state-of-the-art day clinic will primarily treat affective disorders, psychoses, personality disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma-related disorders, as well as manage acute stress situations.
The clinic's services will encompass medication management, evidence-based therapies such as CBT and DBT, family therapy, psychoeducation, social skills training, and a structured day program. By offering intensive treatment while allowing patients to return home in the evenings, the day clinic seeks to integrate therapy into daily life and promote smoother transitions between inpatient and outpatient care.
Thomas Schwarzenberger, President of the Upper Bavarian District Council, expressed his pride in the new facility, stating that it fills a wide gap in the region’s mental health care system and contributes significantly to the decentralization of psychiatric care in the district of Upper Bavaria. Mayor Josef Grienberger enthusiastically praised the collaboration between all parties involved, including the Ingolstadt Clinic, the Upper Bavarian District, the Eichstätt district, and the Eichstätt city council, for bringing the project to fruition.
The clinic's sustainable features include resource efficiency, green building design, accessibility, and a preventive focus, which are fundamental aspects of modern psychiatric care models. By selecting certified wood with proof of sustainable forestry, implementing a ventilation system with heat recovery, and linking the heating system to the city’s district heating, the clinic demonstrates its commitment to environmental responsibility.
Under the exceptional leadership of Prof. Dr. Andreas Schuld, chief physician of the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy II at the Klinikum Ingolstadt, the clinic’s multidisciplinary team is poised to provide high-quality, comprehensive mental health care to the region’s residents. With a focus on early intervention and personalized care, the team aims to help patients regain control over their lives and effectively manage their mental health conditions.
Appointments and preliminary consultations can now be scheduled for the Eichstätt day clinic by calling 0841-8804230. This essential addition to the mental health care landscape in the region will undoubtedly contribute to enhancing the overall quality of life for hundreds of thousands of individuals seeking support for their mental well-being.
