Criminal Investigation Leads to Arrest of Suspects Accused of Sexual Offence in Düsseldorf vs Mettmann
In a series of disturbing events, the Düsseldorf Police have made a significant breakthrough in a string of sexual offenses that have occurred in Düsseldorf, Langenfeld, and Hilden over the past year.
The latest incident, an attempted sexual offense in Langenfeld on October 19, 2023, has been linked to the previous offenses due to the similar manner in which they were committed and the description of the perpetrator. The investigations into the April 25, 2023, sexual offense in Düsseldorf and the October 19, 2023, attempted sexual offense in Langenfeld have been combined, with the competent criminal main office of the Düsseldorf Police leading the combined investigations.
The focus of the investigations has been on a 38-year-old man registered in Hilden. Upon application by the public prosecutor's office, a court issued an arrest warrant for the last offense. The arrest warrant was executed, and a 38-year-old Egyptian was arrested.
Investigations into the man's involvement in the two other offenses are ongoing. A DNA sample taken from the man showed a match with molecular genetic traces secured in the March 2024 incident in Hilden. However, the perpetrator of the October 19, 2023, attempted sexual offense in Langenfeld has not been identified.
The Düsseldorf Police and the police authority of the location where the October 19, 2023, attempted sexual offense occurred are working together on a possible perpetrator identification. The investigators are also looking into the possible previous places of residence of the arrested man.
Meanwhile, the unknown perpetrator in the April 25, 2023, sexual offense in Düsseldorf, which occurred in the Hasseler Forest, remains unknown. The perpetrator in this case was a sex offender, according to the investigators.
The combined investigations are ongoing, and the authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police. The authorities also remind the public to take necessary precautions, especially when walking alone in isolated areas, particularly at night.
