Craftsman admired in the community experiences a stroke during his vacation in Greece

In the small town of Brüel, Germany, a community is rallying together to support one of their own – Heiko Timmermann, a well-known all-round craftsman, who is currently recovering from a stroke he suffered in Greece.

On July 1st, Timmermann, who spends his annual vacation in Greece, was found in a bad state in his hotel room the next morning. The hotel staff remembered hearing a knocking for half an hour the night before, which was later revealed to be Timmermann using his one functioning arm to bang against the wall to get attention.

The stroke occurred around 15 hours after Timmermann went to his hotel room following an evening with friends. His European health insurance does not cover food and accommodation costs in Greece, leaving his sister, who is also the deputy mayor of Brüel, to bring him food and drink.

Torsten Lange, a friend of Timmermann, started a fundraising campaign on GoFundMe to cover the costs of Timmermann's treatment, transport back to Germany, and ongoing expenses. The campaign quickly gained momentum, with many people in the local area (postal code starting with 194) donating due to their personal connection with Timmermann.

Within 24 hours, the campaign collected over 17,000 euros and is still ongoing. The estimated cost for transporting Timmermann back to Germany is between 12,000 and 15,000 euros. The costs for the clinic are estimated to be between 500 and 800 euros per month, but the exact costs have not yet been specified by the clinic.

The treatment doctor will accompany Timmermann from Greece to the Leezen clinic at the Schweriner See. Once he returns home, Timmermann is expected to continue his rehabilitation there.

Donations can be made through the GoFundMe link: www.gofundme.com/f/spende-fur-heiko-timmermann-schlaganfall-in-griechenland or by searching for "Heiko Timmermann" on www.gofundme.com. All funds collected will be given to Timmermann's sister to cover his costs.

The community's support for Timmermann is a testament to the strong bonds that exist within small towns like Brüel. As Timmermann prepares for his return home, everyone in Brüel is eagerly awaiting his recovery and return to his crafty ways.

Science played a crucial role in diagnosing and treating Heiko Timmermann's medical conditions, providing vital information for his recovery. As his personal-finance situation was strained due to uncovered expenses in Greece, the community's fundraising campaign in health-and-wellness, finance, and personal-finance areas helped alleviate some of the financial burdens. Once Timmermann recovers and returns home, his craftsmanship is expected to continue benefiting the community of Brüel.
