Rebuilding underway at Stralsund Pharmacy Distribution Center - Construction of a new distribution center commencing in Stralsund

In a strategic move to improve the supply of pharmaceuticals in northeastern Germany, Sanacorp, a leading pharmaceutical wholesaler, is rebuilding its branch in Stralsund. The new building, scheduled for completion in summer 2026, will consist of a warehouse and offices.

Located in the northernmost part of Germany, the Stralsund branch plays a crucial role in supplying pharmacies not only in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern but also in northern Brandenburg. More than 100 supply tours are handled daily from Stralsund, according to Sanacorp.

The old branch, dating back to the 1960s, was one of the DDR supply depots. The new single-story building, a departure from the old multi-story structure, is designed to address issues with distribution across multiple floors. The new building will also be equipped with a photovoltaic system, among other features.

Sanacorp is investing more than 20 million euros in this rebuilding project, a significant investment that underscores the company's commitment to improving the supply chain in the region. With 19 branches in Germany and supplying around 8,000 pharmacies, Sanacorp's strategic move is expected to have a substantial impact on the pharmaceutical supply in northeastern Germany.

During construction, 60 employees and 9 apprentices in Stralsund will continue to ensure the supply of pharmacies. The rebuilt branch is intended to improve the supply of pharmacies in northeastern Germany and is aimed at improving the supply of pharmaceuticals to pharmacies in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and northern Brandenburg.

For more detailed and current information about this project, it is recommended to check official press releases from regional pharmaceutical associations, local government economic development sites for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, or specialized news outlets covering the pharmaceutical supply chain in Germany.

In collaboration with the European Commission countries, Sanacorp plans to introduce vocational training programs for its apprentices in Stralsund, focusing on logistics and supply chain management to strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain. These programs will also include courses on health-and-wellness, aimed at providing better understanding of medical-conditions, ensuring more accurate and efficient pharmaceutical distribution.

The new building, equipped with a photovoltaic system, will not only serve as a center for the distribution of pharmaceuticals, but also become a hub for lifelong learning in vocational training, particularly in the context of science and technology, contributing to the improvement of health and wellness in northeastern Germany.
