Sizzling Summer Solace: Pakistan Medical Centre's Summer Care Package Cools Down Dubai's Blue-Collar Workers

Dubai, UAE: Beat the heat and stay healthy! That's the motto for delivery riders, drivers, and other blue-collar heroes smashing through Dubai's searing summer temperatures. Thanks to the Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC), a lifeline has surfaced just in time.

This summer, PMC, a not-for-profit healthcare center under the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), is extending a helping hand to those who work tirelessly outdoors with a comprehensive summer care package. With soaring temperatures leaving workers at risk, this initiative offers a much-needed respite.

Swift relief

Kicking off in early June and running through September's fading days, the campaign grants free walk-in health assessments, hydration therapy, and heat stroke prevention guidance for those who labor under the brutal sun.

"This initiative serves those who face the brunt of the sun, especially delivery riders and drivers, who are the most vulnerable when it comes to extreme heat," explained Dr. Muhammad Nasim Sabir, Medical Director at the PMC.

Don't sweat it!

The package provides clinical dehydration assessments, physician consultations, medical management, intravenous and oral rehydration therapy, heat stroke assessments, prevention advice, and essential blood tests—should they be necessary.

Community crusaders

Part of PAD's broader welfare support program, the summer care package emphasizes their commitment to aiding the most deserving segments of the community.

"They're the ones who need our assistance the most," affirmed Mariam Mumtaz, PAD spokesperson. "Our healthcare center, just like our entire community complex, is accessible to all nationalities. We continuously launch initiatives to support those who serve our cities in demanding conditions."

Alingside ally

Still, the battle against the heat isn't a two-man team. The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has also waded into the fray with an annual midday work break. In effect from June 15 to September 15, the policy forbids outdoor labor under the scorching sun during the harshest hours of the day, from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM. This initiative is all part of the UAE's dedication to occupational health and safety and encompasses various industries employing outdoor workers.

South Asian sanctuary

PMC ranks as a cornerstone of the Pakistan Association in Dubai, the world's largest community center for overseas Pakistanis. The center prides itself on offering free medical treatment to the economically disadvantaged. Open to all nationalities, the facility additionally houses a health and fitness center, business incubator, women's entrepreneurship platform, café, and art space—all welcoming the wider community, with special privileges for PAD members.

Stay cool and salute, blue-collar warriors—your health and well-being matter! Sign up for daily updates and take care of yourself!
