In an unfortunate incident this morning, a construction project on the Holstein Tunnel of the A44 near Sontra, Werra-Meißner district, took a turn for the worse. Two workers were injured during the incident, with one of them, a 35-year-old individual, sustaining serious injuries.

The seriously injured worker was immediately flown by helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The second worker, whose identity and age are not specified, was lightly injured in the accident. Unfortunately, no further information about the condition of the second worker is available at this time.

The police are involved in the incident, and firefighters from Sontra and surrounding villages responded promptly to the scene. A large rock was dislodged as a result of a steel beam giving way within the tunnel.
