Child's Condition Following Oil Burns at Moncorvo Tower Remains Steady

A two-year-old child, who suffered first and second-degree burns due to an accident involving boiling oil, is expected to be discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at São João Hospital in Porto later today, according to a source from the local health unit.

On Monday, firefighters in Torre de Moncorvo, Bragança district, were alerted by the Urgent Patient Orientation Center (CODU) at 19:00 about the incident at the child's residence. The child reportedly sustained burns on the face, upper and lower limbs, and other parts of the body due to the accident.

After being stabilized by INEM and firefighter teams, the child was transported by INEM helicopter at 21:15 to São João Hospital in Porto. At the scene, ten firefighter operatives backed by four vehicles were present, along with INEM's Emergency Medical Support Ambulance stationed in Vila Nova de Foz Côa. The GNR took charge of the incident.
