Cancer treatment facility, The Clatterbridge Centre, deploys MyCareTV service for patient entertainment and care support.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust has implemented a modern patient entertainment system called MyCareTV, developed and implemented by Oneview Healthcare. This innovative system, provided as a fully managed service, is now available to patients across the trust's Liverpool in-patient hospital, featuring 150 intuitive screens in patient rooms.
MyCareTV offers a wide range of content designed to keep patients informed, entertained, and alleviate pressure on busy wards during long cancer stays. Patients can access music events across various genres, some even offering interactive options via an app. Additionally, the system provides mindfulness content created by trust teams, condition-specific videos, and the ability for patients to cast media from their own devices.
Emma Daley, the trust's chief nursing information officer, is delighted with the positive impact of MyCareTV for cancer patients. She believes that the system has the potential to achieve more for patients and busy staff. David Croft, technical change manager at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, shares this sentiment, expressing his belief that MyCareTV has the power to significantly improve the patient experience.
The system also offers practical benefits. It significantly reduces the risk of downtime and has already reduced the time nurses spend logging requests for television repairs. Moreover, the anticipated reductions in leaflet usage may support sustainability initiatives. MyCareTV provides a new platform for the trust to host digitised information previously held in printed cancer leaflets, making it more accessible and eco-friendly.
Camgenium has also developed an app to help prostate cancer patients, while the Pi prostate cancer platform has received funding for expansion. Meanwhile, the NHS National Rehabilitation Centre is planning to deploy intelligent bedside screens with Airwave, the same company providing the MyCareTV system at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. Dean Moody, healthcare services director at Airwave Healthcare, is pleased with the innovative approach of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and is excited about the prospect of bringing new music streaming services to cancer patients for the first time.
Patient feedback can be gathered through the MyCareTV system's in-room screens, providing valuable insights into the system's effectiveness and areas for improvement. Overall, the implementation of MyCareTV at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre marks a significant step forward in enhancing the patient experience and supporting the delivery of high-quality cancer care.
