In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, a groundbreaking system named HealthiumPro is making waves. Developed by Camgenium, this innovative cloud-based software solution is designed to enhance patient care, particularly for those battling prostate cancer.

The HealthiumPro app serves as a comprehensive tool for patients, providing a user-friendly interface for signing consent forms, accessing pre-surgery information, and viewing appointment details. It also offers a library of recommended pre-surgical exercises and allows clinicians to remotely monitor patients' blood pressure and temperature. Moreover, the app assists in the automation of writing surgical notes and correlates surgical data with patient-reported outcomes.

One of the key features of HealthiumPro is the HealthiumPro Stent Register. This component aims to streamline the logging and tracking of stent insertions, ensuring their timely removal or exchange. This feature is particularly important in managing ureteric stents, addressing challenges reported by multiple safety bodies.

The HealthiumPro system has been developed in compliance with ISO 13485, the regulatory standard for medical devices, and boasts prebuilt regulatory compliant modules. Camgenium has also secured regulatory approval to host the HealthiumPro system on the NHS private network, HSCN.

Dr. Philip Gaffney, CEO of Camgenium, expressed his pride in enabling the HealthiumPro system, stating that it has significantly improved patient care in hospitals where it has been deployed. The system's development was a collaborative effort, with Camgenium partnering with Professor Petre Cristian Ilie.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK, with 55,000 cases diagnosed annually. The rate of incidence is expected to increase by 15% between 2023 and 2040, according to data from Cancer Research UK and epidemiological projections. This increase is largely attributed to factors such as an aging population and improved detection methods.

The Xenplate platform, on which HealthiumPro is built, uses a modular, no-code software with built-in design tools. This design methodology allows for the system's applications to be developed using drag and drop methods, reducing the need for bespoke coding.

It's worth noting that currently, no national electronic stent register is used across the NHS, with some hospitals relying on paper-based logging with human oversight. HealthiumPro aims to address this gap, improving patient safety and outcomes, and also boosting hospital efficiencies.

As the number of prostate cancer cases in the UK is projected to rise significantly over the next few decades, the need for innovative solutions like HealthiumPro becomes increasingly important. The system is now ready for nationwide implementation in other healthcare settings, paving the way for a brighter future in prostate cancer care.
