AXA Retail Collaborates with Women's Aid and Smart Works Charities for their Causes
In a significant move towards social responsibility, insurance giant AXA has announced several initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable customers and addressing critical issues often overlooked by the industry.
AXA is leading the way by formally including domestic violence as a covered risk in its policies. This decision comes as part of a broader partnership with UK charities Women's Aid and Smart Works, which aims to support survivors of domestic abuse, particularly AXA's Car and Home Insurance customers who are experiencing domestic abuse.
Through referrals facilitated by AXA, customers affected by domestic abuse can access vital support services provided by Women's Aid and Smart Works. Women's Aid, a national charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse against women and children, offers a range of services to help thousands escape abuse each year. Smart Works, on the other hand, assists unemployed women by providing professional clothing, coaching, and interview confidence support. Women referred by AXA and Women's Aid who are aged 16 and over, unemployed or on zero-hours contracts, with confirmed or upcoming job interviews, can access these services both in-person and virtually across the UK.
The partnership's objective is to support domestic abuse survivors to safely leave abusive situations ("getting out") and help them rebuild their lives ("staying out"), aligned with AXA's mission to protect what matters most to their customers. While the current referral pathways target women survivors, Women's Aid emphasizes that domestic abuse can affect all genders, and they offer guidance to other organizations for alternative support needs.
In another initiative, AXA UK has announced its participation in Flood Re's Build Back Better scheme. This scheme aims to provide additional financial assistance for customers affected by flood damage. AXA has signed up to the scheme, offering reimbursement costs of up to £10,000 for relevant customers.
AXA Hong Kong and Macau have also made strides in improving their general insurance ecosystem by collaborating with CoverGo, a global no-code insurance SaaS core platform. The insurer will use CoverGo's platform for general insurance-related purposes.
AXA's commitment to addressing the needs of vulnerable customers extends beyond traditional insurance products. With its platform "Being a woman shouldn't be a risk", AXA has exposed the risks that the industry had long ignored, specifically those faced by women.
