Autonomous door operation commences
In the heart of Germany, the city of Neuss is making strides in modernising its public transportation system. As of March 27, 2020, the majority of doors on Neuss Stadtwerke buses can be opened automatically by the driver. This new feature aims to improve accessibility and promote social distancing during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
However, the pandemic continues to pose a significant challenge for the region. As of March 27, there are 256 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss. Out of these, 94 individuals reside in Neuss itself, 42 in Dormagen, 36 in Meerbusch, 38 in Grevenbroich, and 22 in Kaarst.
To keep residents informed about local social developments, culinary arts, art, and culture, a newsletter is available for subscribers. This free service provides in-depth information about these topics and can be subscribed to via email. Subscribers are advised to check their inbox or spam folder to confirm their subscription. Rest assured, the newsletter does not send spam.
In response to the pandemic, Neuss Stadtwerke buses have been thoroughly disinfected every night since last week. A sign will be attached to the outside of the doors on these buses to indicate where a button press is still required, particularly in the case of three-door vehicles, where the middle door of Neuss Stadtwerke's articulated buses will always open automatically.
For those concerned about privacy, more information about the newsletter's privacy policy can be found on their website. The city encourages all residents to stay informed and stay safe during these challenging times.
