Robbery Suspect Arrested at IMSS Clinic in Guanajuato
A suspect involved in a robbery targeting elderly patients at Clinic Number 47 of the IMSS in León, Guanajuato, has been detained. The arrest was made on August 6, 2025, and the individual was identified as the presumed robber.
The robber reportedly used paint to spray the victims in order to distract and steal from them, particularly in the bathrooms. This method was used against adult patients to facilitate the robbery. The arrest was made by IMSS beneficiaries and internal security elements, with the assistance of two more individuals.
The clinic affected is located in the Las Trojes neighborhood of León, and the case has drawn significant local attention due to the targeting of vulnerable individuals such as senior citizens during their medical visits. A video of the arrest was uploaded to social media, showing the arrested man lying on the ground, subdued by guards and civilians.
IMSS Guanajuato strongly condemned any criminal act threatening their staff and beneficiaries. In response to the incident, they have reinforced security measures in the Number 47 Family Medicine Unit. The Municipal Police secured the individual and initiated investigations.
Meanwhile, the Prosecutor's Office continues investigations into a separate group rape case in Campeche, where two suspects turned themselves in voluntarily. A woman near the detainee commented on the arrest, stating "One has been caught, because we've been having this problem for weeks now."
