Press Release: 2025 DGPRAEC Annual Conference in Leipzig

The German Society for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (DGPRAEC) is set to return to Leipzig for its annual conference from September 25th to 27th. This will be the second time the society meets in Leipzig and the third time in Saxony.

The conference, being held under the motto "Tradition + Innovation = Future", will take place at the Zoo Leipzig, Goethe Hall, Pfaffendorfer Straße 31, 04105 Leipzig. Over 1,000 plastic and aesthetic surgeons are expected to attend, making it a significant event in the field.

The press conference will kick off on September 25th, from 11:00 to 12:00, at the same venue. DGPRAEC President Prof. Dr. Marcus Lehnhardt will describe the life-changing possibilities of hand surgery during the press conference. He will also honour a 10-year-old Afghan boy treated in his clinic in Bochum as the 'Special Patient' of the year at the congress opening.

Dr. Dirk Richter, Vice President of the DGPRAEC, will discuss the pitfalls in aesthetic surgery, including the qualifications of treating physicians. Prof. Dr. Adrian Dragu will report on body contouring operations after significant weight loss, a topic that has gained importance with the introduction of 'weight loss injections'.

Congress President Dr. Jörg Roßler will provide a historical overview of plastic surgery in Saxony, dating back to 1832. The development of plastic surgery in Saxony has been a success story to this day.

The conference will provide an interesting insight into the diverse field of plastic surgery, with its four pillars: burn, hand, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery. The DGPRAEC journalism award of the year will be given to a FAZ article by journalist Melanie Mühl, which focuses on these issues.

Registration is required for participation in the entire congress, and film and photo recordings require prior approval. If unable to attend in person, registration for the stream is available.

The 2025 annual conference promises to be an enlightening event, offering valuable insights into the world of plastic and aesthetic surgery. For those interested in attending, more information can be found on the DGPRAEC website.
